THE EFFECT OF EDUCATION, GROSS REGIONAL DOMESTIC PRODUCT, AND REGIONAL EXPENDITURE REALIZATION ON THE POVERTY RATE IN THE NIAS ISLANDS

Abstract

The study aims to examine the influence of education, regional gross domestic product (GDP), and regional expenditure realization on poverty levels in the Nias Islands Regency/City. A quantitative method with linear regression analysis techniques was used. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK) of the Ministry of Finance in the form of panel data using Eviews-12 software. The model selected in this study is the Random Effects Model (REM). This study concludes that the education variable does not have a significant impact on poverty levels. Meanwhile, regional domestic product has a significant negative impact on poverty levels, and regional expenditure realization has a significant positive impact on poverty levels in the Nias Islands.
